Okay, this is so silly you've drawn me in.  Here are two DeQmey.

Given the context, and given the closed captions (which I verified myself on my 
own tape) there's no doubt in my mind that the word is "petaQ" and other 
interpretations just don't work.

But, let me give you one other bit of information you might lack.  The folks at 
the closed captioning place who handle TNG and DSN inform me that they work from
a script furnished them by Paramount.  Now, while I've seen screw-ups in the 
captioning myself, when they occur they're usually of the form of several 
syllables just dropping out, or several letters dropping out, not a 
substitution.

So, make what you will of it.  Personally, I don't see any issue here.
