qep'a' Hotel Reservations

If you're planning to attend the qep'a' and stay at the hotel (the Best Western
Hotel in north east Philadelphia) then he are some useful things that you ought
to know.
First, go ahead and make your reservations. The qep'a' runs from Monday evening
through Friday morning, July 10th through the 14th. Which means, if you're
staying for the whole meeting (and I hope you are) you'll be reserving for four
nights (10th thru 13th).
In theory, you should only need to call the hotel, and identify yourself as
attending the "Klingon" meeting, or the "KLI" meeting (do not say "qep'a'"
because they won't have a clue) to get the special rate. However, if you want
to be REALLY sure they handle your reservation correctly, ask to speak to Liz
Yuri. Liz is our contact at the hotel and she took very nice care of us last
year. She has agreed to personally handle your reservations if you ask for her.
If she's not in, identify yourself as with the KLI, and ask them to have her
call you back.
The number for reservations is 215/464-9500. Do *not* use the Best Western 800
number to make your reservation because that is a national number and they won't
give you the discounted price for your room.
If you are going to be reserving a double room, you should have found yourself a
roommate on your own. I recommend leaving *both* last names when you make the
reservations, especially if you and your roomie are not arriving together. That
way the first one to get here can check in and not be left waiting in the lobby.
We are requesting that our rooms be grouped near one another. This is as much
for our benefit as for the benefit of other guests staying in the hotel who
might freak at Klingons roaming the halls. However, the first floor contains
only "nonsmoking" rooms, while the second floor has "smoking" rooms. When
making your reservation be sure to specify which you desire. We will probably
end up with rooms on both floors, but stacked so we are directly above
ourselves.
Finally, I will be checking in with Liz on a regular basis to see how the
numbers are going. It would help me to know if you've reserved your room so I
can verify it with Liz. Please drop me a quick email note after you've made
your reservation.
