Trust, but locate the doors. [sic for tISam] TKW
TKW 186: the Klingon word for door, {lojmIt}, could equally well be translated gate. It is used here to stand for any form of entrance or, more important, exit. A door ({lojmIt}, though this word may also be translated as "gate") is a symbol of escape, so a door that is locked (ngaQ) means there is no escape or no way out. This adage offers the advice: Even with those who appear to be honorable, ethical, and deserving of trust, one must always be careful. The phrase... is also sometimes heard in reference to a situation with an inevitable, unavoidable outcome." (TKW 186)

Open the door! KLI
KGT 29: One type of {letlh} [stairs, stairway] is a {choghvat}, the stairway leading to and from the doorway of a ship.
HQ 12.2 (p.7): For the end of a longish enclosed space that one is typically inside of or experiences from the inside, such as a corridor, tunnel, or conduit (say, a Jeffries tube or a branch of the sewers of Paris), a different word is used: {qa'rI'}. This is the only word; it's used for both (or all) ends. The open entryway leading into such a space is called a {DIn}. If there's a door there, it's referred to by the usual word for door, {lojmIt}.
KGT 189: Thus, if the occupant of a room heard a door chime, there would probably be no misunderstanding as a result of his or her saying {yI'Il!} (Be sincere!) rather than the correct {yI'el!} (Enter!)."
KCD: A {bIQ bal} (water jug) is "Traditionally kept filled and set at the front door of every warrior home. It is said, when a warrior returns from battle, he thirsts, and should not want for satisfaction."
"I was playing around with KCD, and hit a spot where one of the Klingons said something like 'our houses have always stood door-to-door' ... It seems quite idiomatic." (qa'vaj 1/17/08)]
