I don't wish to do too much critique of style, but it does seem like a
too-literal translation of the English "remained on hands and knees".
I'm not sure that I even though of it that way as I wrote it, but now that you point it out, I don't like it that way.

That's just weird. I refuse to believe I did that. I must have been going somewhere with that sentence and then lost the first verb.

English? :-) I don't think I've ever heard of the cuffs of a pair of
pants being called the "ankles", or a hood being called a "head"
(though I now notice the words' resemblance). But the general pattern
is certainly undeniable.
Good catches. I would still understand "the ankles of my pants are all wet," but "my brother put mud in the head of my jacket" not so much.
