See, this demonstrates why you need The Klingon Dictionary.  An  
entire section labeled "To be" explains the actual situation.  It  
describes how one may use pronouns  in the manner of a verb to carry  
the idea.  I see no humor in the situation, merely grammar.

(By the way, many languages in widespread use lack a verb for "to  
be".  Even a variety of English called "E-prime" forbids use of any  
form of "be", and it remains fully expressive.  I've used it to write  
this reply.)
