No pun AFAIK.  {QaD} is "be dry" (TKD), "be dried out" (KGT)

For {tuS}:  tousser (French), tussire (Latin), tossire (Italian), toser 
(Spanish) = "to cough"

AFAIK no one has found one for {qo'qaD}.  It does look suspicious, doesn't it?
