For the past year and more, d'Armond Speers has been working on a very detailed and impressive textbook for the KLI. I've taken some of it to an editor and Pocket Books and had a "pitch session" with it. The work is making progress, and I hope to see it completed in the coming year.
Writing such a book is actually one of the things covered under our license agreement. Anyone else doing such a thing is likely to run afoul of Paramount/Viacom. It's that whole trademark and copyright thing again.

Of course the Speers books is more along the lines of a formal text book, such as a Teach Yourself tlhIngan Hol, and not at all what Gennie was describing. And I think we could use that too, particularly for the very beginning level.

The wonders of Print-on-Demand (PoD) technology keep getting better and better, and I've been exploring some new possibilities that didn't exist several years ago when we did the fable Suffix Book (which I'm also hoping to bring back into print soon!).

The trick to a simpler, illustrated book is, as Paolo observes, is its organization. Part of the reason that TKD fails as an instructional manual is the overload of material. For the past year, I've been taking a different look at how to instruct beginners (admittedly, highly motivated and enthusiastic beginners) and I've come to a few conclusions.

We're coming in on some serious "crunch time" right now, but I hope to be able to pull together my notes and make a presentation of sorts to those Grammarians present at the qep'a' and get some much needed feedback. If successful, I hope to be in a position to take Gennie up on her offer and move forward with the first in a series of instructional picture books.
