It would be enlightening to hear how other languages that commonly elide
pronouns handle this sort of thing.

I am against the notion that a noun can stand in the place of a first- or
second-person pronoun and be considered to be in apposition, or in some
similar role.  It doesn't seem right at all.

Apposition certainly happens in Klingon.  I don't think it happens with
words that aren't there.
