Note that you'd have to recognize the Star Trek reference in some detail in
order to know to use the word {Dom} instead of {cha'puj} here.

It's a very nice cultural substitution, with strong imagery for those who
know the story.  Unfortunately, it completely loses the comparison between
night and the black skin of a native of Ethiopia.
