Actually, pretty close. You just have to understand what you read.
{leSmeH poHlIj} "your time for the purpose to relax" --> the time you have
to relax in
{nI'} - "is long"
{mangghom'e' Damuvmo'} "because you joined the *army*" The {-'e'} suffix
puts emphasis on the word.
The person was confusedly restating your assertion that you have a lot of
free time because you joined the army.
