Hegh Sargh

lut botlh vIqon. I always write the middles. I've found that the
middle makes a pretty good beginning, so no great loss there, but the
lack of an ending could be a problem. If there's anyone out there
with a collection of middle-less endings, let me know and we'll
collaborate.

qaSpu'DI' Soch jaj Heghpu'bogh Sargh wItu'.

After seven days, we found a dead horse.

nIHDajDaq Qot 'ej nuj jeq jat qIj.

It lay on its side, its black tongue protruding from its mouth.

motlh mujotHa'moHbe' Hegh 'ach vIleghmo' jIbIrchoHlaw'.

Ordinarily death does not unsettle me but I went cold from seeing it.

choSDaq HeghDI' Sargh Hujbe'bej wanI' 'ach Hujlaw' ghu'vam.

A horse dying in the desert is no strange event, but this
situation seemed strange.

rbIrlaw'_ jatlh *Firouzeh*. Hujlaw'ghach tu' je ghaH.

Firouzeh said, "it seems cold." She too noticed the strangeness.

qaSmoHjaj *Allah*_ jIjang. qaStaHvIS Soch pem nujoy'taH
tuj 'ej qaStaHvIS ram tujtaHmo' maQonglaHbe'. Sarghvam HoHpu' tuj.
mayepHa'chugh nuHoHlaH je.

"Allah will it!" I answered. For seven days the heat had tortured us
and at night we couldn't sleep for the heat. The heat had killed
this horse and if we were careless it would kill us, too.

Sargh vInuDtaHvIS vIHotbe' 'e' vInIDba' 'ach bong chorDaj Hot
ghopwIj. jIyay'. bIr! vIHotqa'. Sub. chuch 'oH Ha'DIbaH'e'.
choS tujqu'Daq Qot taDchu'bogh Sargh jay'!

In examining the horse I tried not to touch it, but accidentally my
hand touched its belly. I was astonished! It was cold! I touched
it again. It was solid. The animal was ice. By the prophets, a
horse lying frozen solid in a blazing desert!

DaH Hujlaw'ghach vIngu'laH. naDev muD bIrchoHmoHlu'taHmo' 'engHomHey
tu'lu'. ngImbe'lI'mo' He'So'be'ba' lom. 'ej yavDaq ghItlhbe'pu'
Ha'DIbaH lemDu'. lem ghItlh Qav, lom je chav wejmaH 'ulmey.

Now I could identify the strange-seemingness. Here because the air
was being cooled, there was mist. Obviously the corpse did not
stink, because there was not putrifaction. And the horse's hooves
hadn't marked the ground. Ten metres separated the corpse and the
last hoof marks.

chay' choSDaq pay' toDchoH Sargh? choSDaq *Moses*vaD *manna*qoq
chaghlu' 'ach 'IvvaD Sarghvam bIr chaghlu'? 'ej nuqDaq ghaH
*Mahmut*'e'? naDev lomDaj tu'lu'be'.

How does a horse suddenly freeze in the desert? 'Manna' was dropped
for Moses in the desert, but for whom was this cold horse dropped?
And where was Mahmut? His corpse was not here.
