Yeah... {qatlho'} has become pretty common, but I started to notice at the
qep'a' that I wanted to say simply "maj" for simple things. I imagine a
true Klingon would say nothing at all, but if you have to say
something... "Ah, you held the door for me. Well done, quite
satisfactory. maj." There's room for gratitude in Klingon culture, I'd
expect, but probably saved for where it's NEEDED. You held the door, you
brought me the food that I PAID you for (in Japanese, I understand you
don't thank the waiter for bringing your meal; that's what you paid him
for), you answered my question, you gave me directions, big deal. I don't
owe you *gratitude*. But... you risked your life or career to save my
neck, you put a lot of effort into helping me succeed or survive when you
really didn't have to... THEN I should thank you.
