Most actors mispronounce this word. Okay, think of it this way.
Most people have the {q} down pretty well. It's like a "k", but
it goes a bit deeper back into the throat. Most people have the
{H} down pretty well, too, though we don't use it in English. We
do generally hear about a composer named J. S. Bach and we get
the {H} from the last sound in his name.
The two "a"s are like the one in "father", the "p" is just a "p"
and the {l} is just an "l", and the {'} is like the hyphen in
the middle of "uh-oh". We often have trouble with {Q}, but the
quickest way to explain how it works, is that it is like {qH}.
You start with {q} and slide straight into {H}.
So, it's like {qHap la'}. Notice that it is NOT like {qHa pla'}.
The most common mispronounced aspect of {Qapla'} is that the
syllable boundary gets moved because in English, you can say
"pl" to open a syllable. In Klingon, you can't.
So, think of {Qapla'} as {qHap la'}
