Different ways of Greetings

Did you eat today?

	Yesterday I was talking with a chinese friend of mine and he told me that, in China, their "Greetings" is:  "Did you eat today?" Or an expression like that.  It looks like strange for the ocidental culture, but it's quite civilized for them!  
	The klingon's  "nuqneH"  is exatly the same.  Did Mr. Okrand though/know about it?
