{ghap} is a noun conjunction, not a sentence conjunction. You cannot use it
to join sentences. Also, the sentence conjunction {pagh} must be used
*between* the sentences, not after them. {SachtaH} is a complete sentence.
So is {HeghlI'}. The {pagh} would have to go between.
You've translated "grow" with {Sach}, which really means "expand." A child
doesn't expand (except, maybe, for Violet Beauragard, however her name was
spelled). Is this the sort of growing you meant? How about {Dub'egh}
"improve itself"?
You're going to need a relative clause here (TKD section 6.2.3).
HeghlI' Dubbe''eghbogh vay'.
That which does not improve itself is dying.

I think {vay'} works fine.
