According to the "new words" web page, they are from {veS QonoS}
(a Klingon club newsletter) and were reprinted in HolQeD 1:3.
That original list gave "laser" as {'uD'a'}; there is no separate
entry for {*'uD}. I've always considered that to be a possible
noun meaning "light source", but I won't use it until/unless it
is approved by Okrand.
The list printed in HolQeD 5:4 consistently misidentifies {QonoS}
with an extra {'}, incorrectly spelling it {Qo'noS}.
