|Alexander took the role of {tawi'yan}, which Dax translates as
|"swordbearer." The other participants had no formal names. The "bachelor
|party" was called {Kal'hya}, a word that apparently can also be used in the
|sense of, "I'm on my quest for {Kal'hya}." I have the episode on tape, so

FWIW, I have the spelling "Kal'hyah" (with an /h/). The actors said it
several times, so the closed captioners may have spelled it both ways.
Kal'hyah is the spiritual "path of clarity" - and fasting - whose six
stages are deprivation, blood, pain, sacrifice, anguish and death.
Pronounced "call-HIGH-uh".

And while I have my notes out, here are a few more bits of wedding-related
parHol from "You Are Cordially Invited":

Battlecruiser Ya'Vang (Alexander's new ship)

Sirella, daughter of Linkasa (Martok's wife)

var'hama candles - the bride-to-be makes and burns several of these when
meeting the mistress of her groom's House (for the first time?). These
should be made from the shoulders of wild targs when possible. Etiquette
note: don't use the replicated ones, they don't really fool any one.

ma'staka clubs - padded (?) pugil sticks those on the "Path of Kal'hyah"
carry with them on their journey. At the end of the actual marriage
ceremony, those on the Path get to attack the groom with them for reasons
that are obscure (at least to me).

Emperor Reclaw - last emperor of the Second Dynasty, whom Sirella claims as
an ancestor. Jadzia's research casts doubt on this pedigree however. (I'm
not sure of the spelling.)

the Bre'nan ritual - has something to do with the bride holding two heavy
(fire?) pots out at arms length while reciting something arcane
