According to VIACOMs web page they have a parent company called
National Entertainments, Inc.
Anyone know anything about it?
We published an unauthorized book on Klingon martial arts titled
"Secret Fighting Arts of the Warrior Race". We used none of their
story line and none of their specific characters. It is clearly an
instructional work.
We did, however, use our own costume and makeup and our own version
of the
Klingon weapon. Additionally we translated Japanese and Chinese
martial proverbs into the Klingon language. The have given us a cease
and desist order and demanded the destruction of all inventory
claiming common law trademark of the "look and feel of Klingon" and
exclusive use of the language even in original prose or translations.
It has gone far enough with them that they have refused to entertain
the idea of a licensing agreement or the donation of the book
inventory to a non-profit organization. We are now forced to destroy
books.
