I've been wondering of late if our chosen names would seem to Klingons like
North American Indian names' translations sound to me. Klingon names are
things like {Qugh}, {qolotlh}, and {qeylIS}, but we choose things like
{ghunchu'wI'}, {SuStel}, and even {HolHaDwI' 'ong}! It reminds me of names
like "Sitting Bull," "Running Bear," or even "Squatting Dog."
I like some of the transliterations which people have come up with. {nuqHm}
was a good one, I thought. {r'Hul} seems very Klingon to me. Even a
less-than-true transliteration, {Seqram}, sounds good.
Despite this, I still think the award for the best chosen name so far goes to
{qu'}. Not only does he (a) pick a one-syllable name which seems very
Klingon, and (b) get to describe himself as fierce, but he also (c) gets to
have a name which is essentially an exclamation point! The double entendre
(check my spelling here) is classic!
