As Christianity spread and its sacred teachings had to be taught in many
language, "God" was translated as the receiving language's generic noun for "a
god", to emphasize that God is the only god and needs no personal name to
distinguish him from other real gods. For that reason the English call him
"God" and the French call him "Dieu", and the Slavs call him "Bog" or "Boh",
etc, and not "Deus" or "Theos", even in the old days when all Western Church
business was done in Latin. Likewise, when the Spanish were Christianizing the
Aztecs, they rendered God as Aztec (Nahuatl) {teotl} = "a god", and did not
leave it as {Dios} or {Deus}. Anyway, in Klingon {ghoD} already means "stuff"
(verb) and "prey" (noun). As a Klingon for "God", my first try is {qa''a'}.
Re the Hebrew name for God which has been discussed here, so far {yaHwe} and
{yaHwe'} don' far already have meanings as native Klingon. ({yaH} means "he
takes away" or "duty station".)
