SuStel: "Remember that no Klingon uses our transcription system. It's a
convenience for Federation people. Perhaps the {pIqaD} has some sort of
method of noting proper names (or perhaps not)."
The Egyptians couldn't capitalize either. They solved their problem by writing
important names in red ink and/or circling them with a "ren" cartouche. ["Ren"
is actually the Egyptian word for "name", so like many other hieroglyphics, it
served double duty.]
There's no evidence to suggest that Klingons use red ink for names. I'm merely
suggesting that SuStel's theory is plausible.
Outside of canonical Klingon however, Paramount representatives have admitted to
borrowing a number of things Egyptian for use in the show -- e.g., the
pyramid-like Great Hall.
