You seem to be trying to use {'e'} incorrectly to mean "they (the shining
eyes)" instead of its true meaning of "that (the *previous* topic)". You
need to reread TKD section 6.2.5 "Sentences as objects" and pay attention
to the first sentence: {'e'} and {net} "...refer to the previous sentence
as a whole."
