It seems you think {-taH} is mandatory when a pronoun is used in this
way, but there's no rule that says so. Yes, the two examples in TKD
section 6.3 use it, but in the appendix, we see {nuqDaq 'oH...} twice
without the suffix.
"In the middle/center of" is much more specific than "inside." I would
say {targhlIj'e' ngaS qach} if your targ were merely somewhere inside
the building, but not necessarily in its center.
