The surgeon is the captain's secret love:

HoD bang pegh ghaH HaqwI''e'.

The captain is the surgeon's secret love:

HaqwI' bang pegh ghaH HoD'e'.

It is a little confusing, since both {pegh} and {ghaH} can act
as more than one part of speech, but given the cue of the Type
5 noun suffix on the subject, the sentence shows that {ghaH} is
being used as a verb, and at that point it becomes apparent
that {pegh} is being used adjectivally. Any time that you use a
pronoun as a "to be" verb, any explicit subject needs the
{-'e'} suffix.
