Since Okrand has not indicated part of speech in any of his
extra-TKD canon, I've annotated things like {tonSaw'} with
[presumed noun], since the wording of the definition, as
pointed out here, appears to be that of a noun, but Okrand
didn't pin it down, so it can be interpreted otherwise by
others.
It is this kind of omission in other sources that convinces me
that transitivity may very well be an issue Okrand just blanked
out on in TKD and now does not wish to bother cleaning up,
since it would probably be a substantial task, revisiting the
definition of every verb. I suspect any dodge of such a task
has less to do with an intentional design of alienhood for the
language than a simpler laziness. He did a lot of work to
create TKD. He probably does not want to do any similarly
scaled piece of work to "finish" his definitions by notating
transitivity.
