This might sound trivial, but when one verifies that a PGP-signed 
message was sent by the owner of the PGP key, what one knows is that
the message was indeed sent by the owner of the PGP key.  Assuming 
that the key has not been compromised, if a message claims to have 
come from [email protected] and the PGP key agrees with that claim, it's 
certain that the message indeed was sent by [email protected] and not from 
some other person claiming to be [email protected].

If a PGP-authenticated message from [email protected] says that "The Klingon
Language Institute is now licensed by Paramount with respect to Things
Klingon" then you can count on its being an official statement by the 
KLI.
