According to Steve Weaver:

You can't combine verbs the way you can combine nouns. You have
two verb roots together with one verb suffix, trying to make a
noun out of the combination.

Think of it this way:

If you could take verbs and mash them together to make compound
verbs, then how could you tell if the syllable {moH} is the
suffix (cause) or verb (be ugly)? Several suffixes also exist
as independent verbs. As it now stands, because of the
structure of the language which does NOT allow compound verbs,
you can generally recognize and understand a verb with
suffixes. Multi-syllabic words that do not involve
recognizeable verb prefixes and suffixes are rather dependably
nouns. It is one of the keys that makes the structure of a
Klingon sentence easier to read at first scan even before
understanding the meaning of all of the words.
