Re: please pay some respect to lingual minorities

Having just read the massive summary of responses to Sami's remarks about
the dominance of English on this mailing list I'd just like to say (in
the hopes of avoiding wasted bandwidth and flames) that despite a little
bit over overzealous defensiveness (which I believe to be quite
understandable) he presents a good case, particularly given the nature of
this list and its dedication to an "alien" language.

Many of the posters to this list are indeed polyglots, and it is common
experience to find instances of other languages' features in Klingon (I
won't bore you with how many times I've heard people say "oh Klingon is
like Japanese" or whatever other non-Indoeuropean language the individual
has experience with). Personally, I find this helpful and refreshing,
particularly when the poster goes out of his/her way to document in both
the "other" language and English, giving those of us who are NOT familiar
with that other language a bit of a taste as it were.

As I mentioned in my initial response to Sami, I am not a big proponent
of political correctness. But, there's a much better reason for language
tolerance on this list: we all benefit from a broader range of
persepctives and the insights from others with vastly different
experience.
