[Tlhingan-hol] boQwI' - Klingon Assistant for Android phones

De'vID jonpIn ([email protected])

Hi, everyone,

Due to (not popular, but non-zero) demand, I've backported my Klingon
lexicon searcher/grammar analyser to earlier versions of Android.
Previously, the program supported only Honeycomb (3.0) and up. The
backport will work on versions from Donut (1.6) to Gingerbread (2.3).

If you were unable to download the program previously due to running
an older version of Android, please give it another try and let me
know what you think:
https://market.android.com/details?id=org.tlhInganHol.android.klingonassistant

Known issues for the backport: You have to press "menu" then select
"search" before you can search. Scrolling may also not work on some
devices on longer entries.

I'm thinking of open-sourcing the program (both the original and
backported versions), so others can contribute (ideally to the
programming, but if not, then at least to proofreading the lexicon,
fixing typos and such, adding new entries when new words are
discovered, etc.). Does anyone have experience doing this with any
Klingon-related software? I just want to cover my bases here with
respect to things like legal issues (e.g., would I have to go through
the KLI or get a license from Paramount if I release the source code,
which necessarily includes a word list?).

p.s. Apologies for not using Klingon -- but I want this message to be
read by as many people as possible, and it's about software for
Klingon. Please reply to me only (not to the list) if your response
is not relevant to the Klingon language, unless it's written in
Klingon.
