Duy' De'lIj. 'oS pongvetlh. yotbe'qu' chaH. Hur'Iq
yo' weghtaHbogh jan tIQ lu'av, QongtaHvIS.

According to http://hometown.aol.co.uk/redwingproject/invback.htm,
that name refers to a specific group of Hur'q warriors, one which was
left in suspended animation and did *not* invade

nger 'e'. bIlugh 'ach bIlughbe'! HeDta' <Hur'q>, 'ach HeDta'be' <Kam'Jahtae>. pong Hevpu' chaH. vay' mej chaH. choH <Kam'jahtae> (<Hur'q> ghap). HIja', ghom le' <Kam'Jahtae>vetlh, 'ach Segh naQ chaH <Kam'jahtae>.

That is a theory. You are half right. The Hur'q ran, but didn't take the Kam'jahtae with them when they did. They left after they received the name. The Kam'jahtae (or currently known as the Hur'q) changed (for the storyline, evolved). Yes, those Kam'jahtae were a special group, but they are all 1 race (or were).

Lemme try to explain this in english as it is difficult for me in klingon. The Kam'jahtae left a spine vessle on the planet R'karnura (i'm not looking up the spelling of it lol) of the Titan system. Then they invaded Kronos, they received the name, and when they fled Kronos, they fled the Galexy, or maybe universe. During this time they "evolved", then the USS Sentinal woke up the sleeping Kam'jahtae which never knew of the conquest on Kronos, they kept the name Kam'jahtae. They never evolved. Kam'jahtae refers to the group that was left there, and the Hur'q before they evolved. The Hur'q eventually returned and that's really where Star Trek: Invasion starts. They attacked romulans and almost started a war, they aroused the borg and the federation kept captured ships of the Kam'jahtae. Probably why the borg went to earth. Wasn't necessarily earth they had intrest in, but i'm sure it became that when the federation blew up every cube.

And no, the Kam'jahtae/Hur'q are *NOT* species 8472 (despite how much more sence it would make).
