I don't believe anyone's ever suggested it before, but you may be on to 
something.  If it's not an intentional pun, Okrand may well have remembered 
it (unconsciously) from his Hebrew.

FYI:  {ben} first appeared in 1985 in the glossary to the TKD where it's 
glossed "years ago".  Okrand extended the meaning to "years old" in a 1996 
startrek.klingon post, which he then added to the glossary of KGT in 1997.
