Interesting.
In dutch, the word for "vacation" is "vakantie", which rhymes with
"vacancy" although it has has nothing to do with it. :-)
I guess that "vacate" in Klingon has a military meaning here. We must
remember that most words that MO made were made for different possible
scenes in the movies. I don't think that he had in mind to vacate a seat or
an office. Perhaps more in the sense of "vacate troops" or "vacate a
military base".
Again, a sidenote (especially for my friend SuStel ;-)
I do not want to say it IS that word definitely. Only Maltz can. I'm just
talking about it, giving my opinion and confusion.
I just like to get as close as possible to the meaning of the word, because
translating Klingon into German is much more difficult than into English!
I've translated nearly all (!) Klingon into German now, and there are a
handful that just are not possible to translate.
