Some related vocabulary:
For "fire": the verbs {baH} "fire (torpedoes, etc.)", {meQ} "burn (i.e. be
on fire?) and the noun {qul} "fire".
For "energize": the verbs {chu'} "activate", {rIH} "energize" and
(possibly) Huj "charge (up)".
1. The difference between {laQ} and {rIH} is unclear. The verb {rIH}
hasn't appeared in canon, but the derived noun {rIHwI'} "energizer" is
listed in the glossary. This latter may be a control component of impulse
engines. (In ST2, while still inside the Terran system Kirk ordered
"Energizers off!" and the Enterprise came to an apparent halt; Kirk then
ordered the warp drive engaged.)
2. {Huj} *might* refer to charging a electrical {'ul} power supply/source
{HoS Hal}, battery and the like. We have {yov} "charge" and {HIv} "attack,
assault" for the military sense. (Of course, {Huj} has never appeared in
canon!)
