Re: KIDC on KLI

I've made several posts to the KIDC board on Delphi. I've tried to state
certain positions which the KLI has taken, to respond to various
inaccurate statements which I believe have been made, to acknowledge
that everyone has an opinion (though I would tend to quibble about
entitlements to such opinions) and to distinguish these opinions from
statements of fact where appropriate.

Much of the vitriol comes from a single source, a former KLI member who
was very active both on this list and on the MUSH and even attended the
qep'a' wejDIch. This person apparently had a bad experience at the
qep'a' and became soured on the organization as a result. My impression
is that the person wishes simply to rant and vent and doesn't want to
discuss. KIDC administration apparently agrees, and has gagged the
individual from further posts.

The KLI is certainly not the end-all for people interested in the
language, and I hope I have not presented it as such. We are obviously
the major force out there for people interested in learning the
language, have done more to promote the language than any other
individual or group (with the clear exception of Marc Okrand himself),
and these are things I think we can all be justly proud of. Others may
see this as being insufferably proud, and they may have a point.

All in all, I found the posts on the KIDC forum eye-opening. While I
didn't think everyone out there loved us, I had been working on the
assumption that at worst they were indifferent and uninterested in us.
Go figure.
