KIDC Launches New Klingon Online Forums!

     The Klingon Imperial Embassy is pleased to announce the beta launch
of our new online forums, hosted by Delphi Internet
<http://www.delphi.com>.
     The forums each have a "Discussion Area" where messages can be
posted for all to see, as well as a "Chat Area" for online chats using
either a java or html-based browser. Presently, three forums have been
established. The first is a KIDC Public Klingon Forum, where topics
ranging from culture, society, traditional ceremonies, cuisine,
weaponry, music and language are covered and is accessible to any
registered member of Delphi. The second is a KIDC "Members Only" Private
Forum, which is a special access forum where only KIDC members will be
able to discuss matters relating to their own specific departments, club
programs and activities as well as general discussions between members.
The third is a KIWG "Members Only" Private Forum, password-access only,
reserved for the exclusive use by members of our sister organization,
the Klingon Imperial Weapons Guild.
     To use the public Klingon forum, you will have to register with
Delphi; it takes only a minute and it's free. All they require is a name
and a valid e-mail address. Delphi does ask for other info on the
registration form; however, this information is optional and is not
required for the registration process to be completed. (I didn't bother
with any of it and you can do the same - it's up to you.) We would
prefer it if you could make your "Username" and "Nickname" your Klingon
name, in order to facilitate recognition amongst ourselves. Please,
refrain from using a House Name as your "Username" unless you are the
legitimate Head of that House; you can always put both your Klingon
first name and your house line as your "Nickname".
     To access the KIDC Public Forum, please go to the following URL
<http://www.delphi.com/KIDC>. You will see a page saying that you must
either log in or register. If you have already registered with Delphi,
you have the option of saving your password on your computer so that you
only need to press the "log in" button.
     As a registered member of Delphi, you will have a personalized "My
Delphi" page, which provides you with a useful starting point for your
explorations. Once you have visited some forums, they will show up as
links in your "Recently Visited Forums" section; if you check them off,
they will then become part of your "Favorite Forums" section. This would
be a good place to "store" the KIDC forums for easy access.
     Once you are at the KIDC Public Forum page, you will see a brief
introduction/welcome, as well as links to both the Discussion Area and
the Chat Area. The Discussion Area is simple enough, message titles
appear under various topics in the left window, and the messages
themselves in the right. Feel free to read through them and post replies
or even new threads of conversation.
     I've given a fairly detailed description of the steps involved in
becoming a part of our new forums. Don't feel intimidated; it is
actually very easy once you get there. If you've tried it and are not
sure about certain aspects, please feel free to drop us a detailed
e-mail at <[email protected]> and we'll do our best to have someone
"walk you through" the process and get you started. We hope that this
will soon become an indispensible and effective communication tool for
our members and the entire Klingon community.
