Re: Klingon comic?

The March 1998 issue of _MARVEL VISION: the Marvel Fan Magazine_ (Vol.
1, No. 27, ISSN #1093-0817) has a two-page story on it. It's titled
"Breaking the Language Barrier: Marvel and Paramount join forces for
first-ever all-Klingonese comic book!"

They consistently refer to the language as "Klingonese", and while Dr.
Lawrence Schoen is credited with undertaking the translation, they
completely fail to mention the Klingon Language Institute or the names
of the other people who did the bulk of the translation. [Insert
pictures of ghunchu'wI' and SuStel, grinning and mouthing "Hi Mom!"]

The Starfleet Academy story is written from the point of view of a
group of Klingon cadets. Its writer, Chris Cooper, had apparently
wanted for some time to do a "silent" comic book issue, told entirely
with the pictures; he decided to treat this one as if it were silent
but do the captions and speech in Klingon. He tried to keep the
action obvious and the words simple, so that someone using the
provided glossary would have at least a chance of understanding the
story.

STAR TREK: STARFLEET ACADEMY #18 goes on sale March 18. The issue
will be released a second time two weeks later, in English.
