Again, I believe as you do that a being
with emotional states must be the subject of {Quch}, but my belief is
not conclusive. With English "happy," for example, the thing which is
happy need not be a being.
Could an unemotional thing be the subject of Quch by making *that thing*
happy for someone?

May the new year be happy for you.
Or could the sentence be rephrased so the person is happy?
qaStaHvIS DIS chu' bIQuchjaj
May you be happy during the new year.
