I sent this once, but it never came through the list. Apologies if anyone
receives it twice.
Okay, I was inspired today by ghunchu'wI''s post, in which he presented a
draft answer to the frequently misunderstood TENSE versus ASPECT part of
tlhIngan Hol grammar.
I've put together a FAQ for this mailing list. We always say we need one,
each year at the qep'a' we identify things which it would have in it, and
it never gets done. No one ever sits down and just does it. Well, today,
I just sat down and did it. (And, I included ghunchu'wI''s draft).
For nearly all the answers to the questions I identified, I scoured the
archives for the mailing list, and chose clear, well-articulated answers
from folks on the list. I didn't want to presume to try to answer
everything myself; I certainly don't carry that much info around in my
head. So, the result is a collection of our best responses, a "greatest
hits", if you will, from the history of the mailing list. It features such
artists as HoD Qanqor, ~mark, charghwI', and others.
As with all FAQs, it's a work in progress. If there's an question that's
not included there, let me know and I'll include it. If there's a wrong
answer, or something you think bears mentioning, send it to me and I'll
take care of it. If it's somewhat controversial, let's open it up to the
mailing list, and hammer out an official response. But at least now we
have a starting point.
