That's the part I don't understand, myself. This is a list on the Klingon
Language. It isn't on viruses, PCs, or anything else related. Does it
- -really- take that much sense to realize that messages about things
like viruses aren't appropriate here?
Sure, one can use the argument that "this is important to everyone". If
- -everyone- posted about topics that they thought were "important to
everyone", we wouldn't have much of a mailing list here. After all,
everyone has SOMETHING they think everyone else should know about.
Even in the case of a virus warning, a virus warning doesn't apply to a
good percentage of the list. I, personally, run Unix, and couldn't get
a virus if I tried. So do _many_ of the listmembers. Even something
like the Communications Decency Act "please help" mailings don't belong
here. There's a whole 'nother list for those types of mailings -- Those
that are interested, are on that list.
And if you have something that must, absolutely must, be seen by the
list, that isn't Klingon Language related, mail it to me _first_ and I'll
post it to the list if I think it should be there.
There. I've updated the list on the policies of things, and I've changed
the "welcome" document to make it PAINFULLY obvious what is and
isn't appropriate here. Lets not have any more lapses in our common sense
now, alright folks?
