OK. It's finally time for me to say something I've been thinking about
saying for some time. I hope I can do it without sounding too much of a
hypocrite.

I think this list has gotten WAY off-target. I mean a lot. Since when has
this list been a Star Trek fan-list, discussing Klingon culture and society
and whether or not Klingons like this kind of food or that kind of person?
That's NOT what this list is for, and NOT what we're here to discuss. If
you want that, I know there are other lists whose charters are aimed at
just those topics (I believe there are some on stargame.org that discuss
Klingon culture and Star Trek and whatnot). This is the Klingon LANGUAGE
list. Language. Not culture, not science, not cuisine. Language. It's
true that language and society and culture often affect one another, and in
that context we must make reference to cultural features in discussing the
language, but that's not what I've been seeing. I've seen discussions
about whether or not Klingons farm (OK, at least that made passing
refeerence to Klingon words), how they might program their computers, how
they view Terrans in their society, etc etc. These are all fine topics for
a Klingon culture fan-list. But not for here. If the earlier Grammarian,
Captain Krankor, would see the list now, he'd probably politely criticize
me at length with a painstik at maximum charge for letting the discussions
range so far afield.

I realize I've been at fault in this as well, contributing to and
encouraging these discussions by my own actions, not just through
inaction. But at least now I'm realizing what happened.

Can we please take these off-topic conversations off-line to their
appropriate fora, and get back to tlhInagn Hol?
