Velka who was usually quiet could not back away from a challenge. Today when
she spoke, she was perfectly reckless. "In betleH fighting, Pelora is more
skilled than I," replied Velka. The commandant turned to Pelora and said,
"Show us these so-called accomplishments, but we will use knives. Choose
one." He produced two. Fortunately she was a skilled knife fighter. (SuStel,
I took this right from something you wrote to me. I still can't resist
revising the story.) When he chose a cadet, the fighting began. The cadet
was more powerful than Pelora. In order to win, Pelora would have to be
cunning and brave. The cadet stabbed at her center mass. Pelora held his arm
and moved very close to him. After kicking his leg and stepping on his foot,
she cut his tunic. It was definitely over. "So," the ruthless commandant
said, "Now I will assess your knowledge of military strategy.

Their father thought, " While they are answering him, I'll have to listen.
The commandant cannot be unfair while questioning them, if I observe." Their
father said to the commandant, "I will accompany you while you question them."
Because he was a powerful and great warrior, the commandant could not refuse
to allow it. For four hours the commandant asked about military strategy and
maneuvers. Quickly they answered perfectly. Their father observed that their
knowledge was impressive. The girls were ready to enter the academy and the
commandant couldn't prevent it because he had to behave as an honest man.

However, the commandant vowed to discourage them and make their lives very
difficult. In order to get them to leave, he would encourage cadets who were
willing to be cruel. He thought that they could not last a week. The cadet
corps reassembled on the parade ground. The commandant spoke to them, "These
girls have proven their knowledge. They can study here. Dismissed." The
cadets were unhappy and spoke to each other, "We cannot tolerate this."

"Pelora and Velka, tonight you can stay here and tomorrow you will become
first year cadets," said the commandant. Before they could reply, their
father said, "I'm going to talk to my girls alone." The commandant did not
dare prevent it. "Velka, Pelora, the cadets do not want you to remain. The
commandant obviously doesn't want that either. I see that to achieve your
goal you're going to suffer. You need to decide now. Are you ready to stay?"

Pelora replied, "Yes, father, we know, but we definitely want to stay."
"Velka, what do you say." "Sir, we will endure this to become warriors."
They knelt at his feet and placed their foreheads in his hands. "May the
words of Kahless guide you. Success!" To the commandant the father said,
"Honorably take care of my girls." "I will," lied the commandant.
