This is exactly the point that has prevented me from responding to this thread.
We don't know what the literal meaning of petaQ is; we only know that it is
an invective and, specifically, an epithet.  The most common English epithet
that springs to mind would, in fact, require a {-Du'} plural suffix in
Klingon . . .
