Plans for the qep'a'

Monday Evening
  Opening Banquet	8:00 pm
After you've settled in from your journey, the optional banquet formally begins
the meeting. Good food, good company, a chance to practice your toasts, and a
special presentation.

Tuesday Morning
  Registration	9:00 am
If you registered in advance, this is your chance to pick up your membership
badge and conference pad. If you haven't registered yet, this is the time to do
it.

  Welcoming	10:00 am
The meeting begins. Every Klingon heart stirs as we raise our voices in song.
Copies of the Imperial Anthem will be provided. There is much rejoicing.

Klingon, Past And Future	10:30 am
A discussion of where we have been with the language, and where we might be
going. Gain perspective on the language and explore the directions the KLI will
take in the year ahead.

  Workshop I: Klingon 101	11:00 am
Getting started with Klingon. An introduction to the galaxy's fastest growing
language.

Tuesday Afternoon
  Meet the Media	1:00 pm
Good or ill, Klingons are highly photogenic. The media are expected to be in
attendance at the qep'a', and this is surely the chance for your fifteen minutes
of fame. Come in uniform, prepare your curses, and explain to them why it is
you study the Klingon language.

Workshop II: Klingon 102	3:00 pm
More vocabulary, more grammar, more basic sentences to build your command of the
language.

Tuesday Evening
  yIQuj	7:00 pm
Continuing the tradition begun last year we will have poker (Klingon cheat sheet
to be provided), as well as a variety of other games, some in Klingon and some
in English (for the squeamish).

Wednesday Morning
  Translating Klingon	10:00 am
Join in the discussion as several members of the Klingon Bible Translation
Project and the Klingon Shakespeare Restoration Project share some of the
difficulties and satisfactions encountered in these endeavors.

Wednesday Afternoon
  Teaching Klingon	1:00 pm
How to instruct others in the warrior's tongue. David Barron, KLI Education
Officer, will lead a discussion of strategies and techniques, anecdotes and
experiences.

Workshop III: Curses & Toasts	3:00 pm
Not for the meek, this workshop will introduce members to the finer points of
mu'qaD veS and festive toasting.

Wednesday Evening
  Pizza Party	7:00 pm
Thick crust or thin, veggies or meaty, join us for the feasting and frivolity as
we seek inspiration for describing this culinary masterpiece in the warrior's
tongue. Anchovy and qagh pizza available upon request.

Thursday Morning
  Wish List	10:00 am
A brain storming session to examine what we need to ask to have clarified by
Okrand. What words absolutely need to be found?

Thursday Afternoon
  From The Grammarians	1:00 pm
Grammarians old and new from the listserv gather to share their expertise at
handling online Klingon.

  Shakespeare in Klingon	3:00 pm
Selected scenes from Hamlet and other works by the immortal bard of Qo'noS.
There will be parts for those bold enough to walk the boards and seats in the
audience for those with more honor than courage.

Thursday Evening
  yIQujqa'	7:00 pm
More games, more contests of skill and cunning, and in all likelihood more
silliness.

Friday Morning
  Final Gathering	10:00 am
All battles, eventually, end. A time to come together one last time with old
friends and new, and say our farewells.

  Imperial Anthem	11:00 am
Raise your voice once more as we close this meeting with the stirring words of
the anthem. Boots optional.

  Hotel Checkout	12:00 pm
Pack your bags. Don't steal the towels (where would be the honor?). Make sure
you have everything, and then drop off your key and close your account at the
front desk. We'll see you again next year.
