I&#39;m wondering if the Klingon in the book is functional, or simply<br>
decorative.<br>
<br>
If it&#39;s &quot;real&quot; Klingon, was anyone on the list involved with it?<span><font color="#888888"><br></font></span></blockquote><div><br></div><div> </div></div>I actually have an email draft about this sitting in my drafts folder, which I hadn&#39;t sent yet because of the &quot;30 day moratorium&quot; on new canon.  Amazon shows a &quot;publication date&quot; of Oct. 24 and a &quot;release date&quot; of Nov. 6, so we are supposed to wait about another week before discussing it.  </div>
<div class="gmail_extra"><br></div><div class="gmail_extra">I&#39;ll answer your question without saying anything about the actual words of the content.  Yes, it&#39;s *mostly* real Klingon, with a very straightforward mapping between the Okrandian transcription and the {pIqaDqoq} used in the book.  </div>
<div class="gmail_extra"><br></div><div class="gmail_extra">I&#39;ll go a little bit further and say that it&#39;s a gorgeous book with a stylistic and beautiful script for {pIqaD}, so if you&#39;re a Klingonist I&#39;d recommend picking one up. I bought one off Lieven at the qepHom last month (thanks, Lieven!).</div>
<div class="gmail_extra"><br></div><div class="gmail_extra">Like you, I have similar questions for the list: What was Marc Okrand&#39;s involvement in this and what was the KLI&#39;s (they are both credited)?  Should the uses and definitions of Klingon terms and Klingon sentences found in this book be considered as coming from Okrand (i.e., like the Bird-of-Prey poster), or are they from KLI members?</div>
