As used in canon:

   jagh lucharghlu'ta'bogh HuH ghopDu'lIj lungaSjaj
May the bile of the vanquished fill your hands! PK

   bIQ ngaS HIvje'
   The cup contains water
(IDIOM: be quite mistaken, be totally wrong) KGT

   bIQ ngaS HIvje'lIj
Your cup contains water (i.e. "You're all wrong"). KGT

yoq yIn yuQ 'oH Qo'noS'e'. yInSIp voQSIp je ngaS muDDaj.
   Qo'noS is a class-M planet with an oxygen/nitrogen atmosphere. S27

Discussed by Okrand:

When asked about {bav}, Okrand says "You don't need a {-Daq}. Just use
whatever it is that you are orbiting. When subsequently asked about
{ngaS}, Okrand says "Same thing." (HQ 7.4)

Related verbs:

{qat} "wrap, encase". For "contain (an enemy)" use {Sev}. S

See also {muq} "have a volume of" and {buy'} "be full, be filled up".

Related nouns:

{ngaSwI'} "container" was used in the KCD novelization (p. 85f):

The bartender nodded and before a moment passed he had returned with
three bottles. He sat them on the bar and pointed at each in turn.
     "{ngaSwI' wej. HIvje'mey.}"

Post-KGT we would use {bal} "jug, jar, bottle":

A {bal} is any bottle or jug used to store liquid. Usually one will pour
({qang}) the drink directly from the {bal} into the {HIvje'}, but it is not
considered uncivil to drink directly from the {bal}. Ale [{wornagh}] is
often stored in a large vat ({qegh}) rather than in a {bal}." (KGT 98f)

See also {qoD} "inside, interior" and {botlh} "center, middle".
