In an interview with Okrand, he conveyed to me another difference.
The more general verb [{ghom}] works both as {qaghom} "I meet you"
and {maghom} "we meet". The verb {qIH} always has a direct object.
   (Will Martin)

In his interview focusing on how particular verbs work with direct
objects, Okrand revealed that while {ghom} can be used properly
either as {qaghom} or {maghom} (so {maghomchuq} would be somewhat
redundant, but not entirely wrong)... (Will Martin)

Used in canon:

   tachDaq maghom
We will meet in the cocktail lounge. TKD

   bInajtaHvIS qeylIS Daghomjaj
May you encounter Kahless in your dreams! PK

   tlhIngan 'avwI' lughom

tera' vatlh DIS poH cha'maH loS bong QongmeH qItI'nga' Duj tI'ang
   ghompu' DIvI' 'ejDo' 'entepray'

in the 24th century by the USS Enterprise. S15

   rut yIHmey ghom Hoch

ngoch luchermeH 'ej wo' San luwuqmeH pa' ghom tlhIngan yejquv DevwI'pu'

and decide upon the fate of the Empire. S25

Related verbs:

{qIH} "meet (for the first time); {lIH} "introduce". The "opposite" verb
is {ghomHa'} "scatter, disperse". (In DS9 "Sons & Daughters" Worf
dismissed the group of "replacement" crewmen for the Rotarran saying,
"<Deen ghomHa'!>" [not subtitled or captioned; i.e. ?{DIghomHa'} "we
dismiss them"].)

>Homonyms:
> ghom (noun) - group, party, band

Used in canon:

jolbogh ghom wa'DIch DamuvlaHmeH De' DaneHchugh, Se'vam yIjIHtaH
Stay tuned for information on how you can be among the first to beam
aboard! STX

Also {ghom'a'} "crowd". Cf. also {Hutvagh} "too many people or things in a
place all at once". The verb is {qev} to "crowd" (N.B. that its antonym is
{mob} "be alone"!)
