"refers to the action of somebody who is taking a measurement" (st.k 10/22/97)

   naQjej vIjuv
   I measure the spear. (st.k)

For the intransitive sense, cf. {juch} "have a width of" and {'ab}/{'aD}
"have a length of":

   There are two words used for length: {'aD} and {'ab}. Both of
   these can be translated as "have a length of", but they are used
   somewhat differently. {'aD} is used in contrast with {juch} "have
   a width of" in measuring, say, a table top. [st.k 10/22/97]

Other verbs of measurement include {Saw'} "have a depth of", {muq} "have a
volume of" and {ngI'} "have a weight of, weigh".

Units of measurement include the {'uj} *uj* (about 35 cm. long); {'uj'a'}
(nine time longer than an {'uj} or about 3.15 m.); the {qelI'qam}
*kellicam* (roughly 2 km.); the {loghqam} (ca. 1.25 light years); the
{cheb} (a common unit of weight around five pounds [2.25 kg or so]); and
the {cheb'a'} (nine times the weight of a {cheb}). Before you ask,
*{'ujHom} and *{chebHom} aren't used.
