There was no SKI on the other answer to your question, but in English...

I'm pretty sure the tally marks would be for OTHERS to see.  It doesn't
seem very Klingon to not be able to remember -- and regale others with
tales of -- one's deeds.

"Kor, what is THAT mark for?"
