As used in canon:

   batlh tlhIngan Segh yIHub
   Defend the Klingon race with honor. (ST5 notes)

   DujDaj HubtaHvIS Hegh 'e' tul Hoch tlhIngan
   To die defending his ship is the hope of every Klingon. TKW

Note the use of {Hub'egh} "defend oneself" in:

   not Hub'eghrupHa' lo'wI'
   "the user is never caught at a disadvantage"  SP2

FYI:  "Defend yourself!" signals the start of a bat'leth duel (cf. TNG 
"Lower Decks", DS9 "House of Quark", DS9 "Way of the Warrior", etc.).  It's 
the Klingon equivalent to "En garde!"

A special idiom is {HubneS} "honor-defend", used "only when suicide is part 
of the defense plan" (KGT p. 49).

Finally, note the homophonous noun {Hub} "defense".
