You (plural) can help with Project Klingon Poe!

tlhIngan Hol *Poe* jInmolvaD pemugh tlhIH!

As mentioned in the latest issue of HolQeD, the Klingon Language Institute
has a new project: Project Klingon Poe. This project focuses on translating
short stories by Edgar Allan Poe into the Klingon language.

Do you want to prove that you are skilled enough to be a grammarian? Or
maybe you've been asking KLBC questions for years, but now you're ready to
impress everyone with what you've learned. Your work will be edited and
proofread by a former Beginner's Grammarian, so you don't have to be afraid
of mixing up your {mojaqmey} in front of everyone.

Have you dishonored yourself by dropping slimy tongue balls at a banquet
recently? Even if you forgot to say a replacement proverb, you're in luck!
If you translate for Project Klingon Poe, you will gain the honor and
respect of your fellow Klingonists. This honor will more than make up for
any tongue balls that you may have dropped.

You've seen the Klingon translation of Hamlet, haven't you? But have you
actually sat down and read the *entire* Klingon version? If not, maybe it's
because you think Shakespeare's works are too long and/or boring - if
that's the case, Poe's short stories are right for you! Murder, mystery,
and a lot more, often in less than a dozen pages! You can volunteer to help
with Project Klingon Poe, and won't have to worry about translating
something as long and as difficult as Shakespeare.

Have you been meaning to submit an article to Qo'noS QonoS, but don't have
an opinion on anything? Or maybe the qep'a' has inspired you to write your
own Klingon fiction, but you can't think of a plot? You should help with
Project Klingon Poe! Don't worry, the stories were written over a hundred
years in advance, so that you can translate them into Klingon now!

You may be thinking, "But the only Poe work that I know is The Raven!"
Although Poe is famous for his poetry, PKP is focusing on Poe's short
stories. However, it still should be easy for you to find a story that you
like. Halloween is coming up, so your local library should have books of
Poe's works out on the shelves. Or, you can use the Internet - Poe's works
are in the public domain, so you can download them for free at places such
as Project Gutenberg (http://www.promo.net/pg).

Send an email now to [email protected] with the name of the story you want to
translate. Don't wait - you don't get to translate the really cool stories
if someone else picks them first!
